Welcome to Dennistown. If you are new here, and you didn’t get a chance to read the beginning, you can find it here in the section that will only contain the novel. I’ve tried to organize things to make them easy to find because I have enough trouble finding anything on here.

Before we get to today’s chapter… Hunted for a house this weekend. At some point I will regale all of you of the adventures I’ve had over the years looking for homes with Mary and our friend/realtor Jen, the best and most intrepid realtor I know in Maine. We’ve been in places I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy (if you know me, you know that’s not true) and we’ve been in some of the nicest homes along the coast. We’ve been down haunted roads and put a lot of miles on pointless treks just hoping for a miracle.

This weekend was mostly a bust, but we learned some things and, as always, we had a hell of a good time doing it.

Today’s entry is a large one, over 2,600 words. Milo gets to the party, half buzzed and learns all about that most delicate of delicacies: smelt.

Remember, at any time, you can go back to the beginning or to any chapter just by going to this tab on my Substack home page.

If you are enjoying this book, consider clicking the little heart; it’ll make my own little heart go pitter-patter. Or you can restack by hitting that two-arrowed circle. Or you can comment by hitting that talk thingy bubble. Or you can buy me a home on a lake or pond. Not the ocean though, I don’t want to seem greedy.

And away we go…
