Welcome to Dennistown. If you are new here, and you didn’t get a chance to read the beginning, you can find it here in the section that will only contain the novel. I’ve tried to organize things to make them easy to find because I have enough trouble finding anything on here.

Before we get to today’s chapters… A quick update on Myrtle and the pups. It appears mom and babies are doing well. Myrtle comes over 3 or 4 times a day to eat. She comes to the door, whines as only a husky can, this pitiful, plaintive, whine. Then when she sees us, she does a little dance like a kid in a candy store.

She usually attacks her food with a vengeance, then runs back to the shed, but the last few days, she has been lingering a bit. Not for long, but I think she is starting to feel the effects of motherhood and constantly having to care for 4-5 hungry mouths. I say 4-5 because, though I check them daily, it is so dark and so far away for these old eyes, I can’t be sure.

I suspect they will be walking in a week or so and I’m prepping the backyard with a doghouse and some heat in the sincere hope she brings them over soon.

If you missed last week’s stack and are wondering what in the world I’m talking about, you can catch up HERE.

Today’s entry is just over 1,800 words. Milo attempts to fix the window in the kitchen. I’m so excited to get to this chapter, because the issues of Mabel and he/she is finally settled and things also start to get more linear. There are still 1st vs. 3rd person issues, but I hope to reach the point soon where I finally switched over to 1st person for good. You are doing a great job catching those, however, and I really appreciate it.

Remember, at any time, you can go back to the beginning or to any chapter just by going to this tab on my Substack home page.

If you are enjoying this book, consider clicking the little heart; it’ll make my own little heart go pitter-patter. Or you can restack by hitting that two arrowed circle. Or you can comment by hitting that talk thingy bubble. Or you can send me a pony via carrier pigeon. I’m not desperate for validation, I promise. :-)

And away we go…
